SPANISH SCHOOLS IN EL SALVADOR: CHOOSE A CITY
Puerto de la Libertad.
Just 34km south of
San Salvador, Puerto La Libertad, once a major port
and still an important fishing town, has re-invented itself as a tourist spot, neatly set between the beaches
of the Costa del Bálsamo in the west and the Costa del Sol in the east.
It's a popular place, particularly crowded at the weekends, when the
hordes from the capital pour in to eat, drink and relax by the sea.

San Salvador. San Salvador is a large
city whose population is starkly divided between the wealthy and
impoverished. The wealthier neighborhoods of Escalón, Ciudad Merliot
and San Benito boast luxury shops (the largest malls in Central
America, including the largest shopping mall in Central America,
Metrocentro), five-star hotels, tree lined avenues and beautiful, well-guarded
mansions.

Santa Ana.
Santa Ana has retained more of its colonial heritage than most cities this size,
and it is therefore more pleasant than the country's choking capital.
Wide, clean streets pass between old buildings in surprising good
condition, most are under two stories high and painted in pastel
colors.
