About Escazu:

Escazu an upscale neighborhood of San Jose is just 7 km west of downtown. It sits up on a hill and boasts amazing views of San Jose and Heredia. This small town is lined with nice restaurants and shops and it is a popular place for gringos that have migrated to Costa Rica, the US ambassador even lives in Escazu. There are some very nice hotels in Escazu and it is a good alternative to downtown, as it is much cleaner and safer. Even though there are many gringos living here it is also a popular place for ticos and Escazu still has the Costa Rican ambience.
